LongList Good Practices [WP2]

Wie bereits im Beitrag zur Recherche von Good Practices beschrieben, wurden eine grobe Recherche zur Identifizierung von Good Practices hinsichtlich der Verwendung von Sozialen Medien durchgeführt. Diese Recherche führte zu einer Long List, die in Summe 174 identifizierte Good Practices umfasste und die sowohl Services und Tools (z.B. Apps, Blogging und Microblogging Services, Collaborating Knowledge Sharing Services, Communication Services, Content Management Tools, Content Sharing Tools, Digital Volunteer Tools, Personensuche Services, Social Networking Tools), Hardware, (theoretische) Modelle und Frameworks, andere Projekte, als auch Best Practices in Form von Leitfäden beinhaltete. Diese Liste findet sich anschliessend im Volltext.

Good-Practice Recherche im Projekt Re:Acta. Schematischer Ablauf

 

Das Ziel war, die Vielzahl an Good Practices anhand eines 2-stufigen Auswahlverfahrens zu einer handhabbaren und für die Projektziele relevante Menge an Good Practices zu filtern. Das 2-stufige Auswahlverfahren ist im Artikel zum Suchverfahren dargestellt.

Es handelt sich dabei um eine Recherche im Zeitraum Frühjahr 2014, das heißt die Links können inhaltlich zum Teil von den zum Zeitpunkt der Erstellung vorhandenen Stand abweichen.

Open Shelter Finder Shelter data reflects all disaster shelters across the United States. Sie müssen lediglich aus sechs Leitsymptomen auswählen, mit welcher Situation Sie es zu tun haben. Die App führt Sie dann automatisch zu den richtigen Maßnahmen. Diese werden durch anschauliches Bildmaterial Step-by-Step erläutert. Erste Hilfe DRK APP Mit der App „Erste Hilfe“ des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes ist erstmalig die interaktive Begleitung in einer Notfallsituation per iPhone oder iPad möglich. Die App kann ebenso dazu benutzt werden, auf spielerische Weise das Verhalten in einer solchen akuten Situation zu üben. Im Programmteil „Der kleine Lebensretter“ wird zusätzlich Hintergrundwissen zu den unterschiedlichsten Erste Hilfe-Themen vermittelt.
Die Applikation bietet vier Funktionen: (1) Der interaktive Erste Hilfe-Assistent gibt per Sprache und wahlweise Text oder Bild Anweisungen zu Erste Hilfe-Maßnahmen und kann so durch eine Notfallsituation lotsen. (3) Der kleine Lebensretter“ beinhaltet wichtiges Hintergrundwissen in Text und Bild zu unterschiedlichen Erste Hilfe-Themen wie Gelenkverletzungen, Knochenbrüchen, Sonnenstich, Schock oder Stabile Seitenlage. (4) Mit den „DRK Infodiensten“ lassen sich die wichtigsten DRK News online abrufen, aktuelle Blutspendetermine im Umkreis herausfinden und eine Übersicht über die unterschiedlichen Angebote zu Erste Hilfe Kursen einsehen.

PLAN – Personal Localized Alerting Network he Personal Localized Alerting Network (PLAN) (technically the Commercial Mobile Alert System) is a new public safety system that allows customers who own an enabled mobile device to receive geographically-targeted text-like messages alerting them of imminent threats to safety in their area.
This new technology ensures that emergency alerts will not get stuck in highly congested user areas which can happen with standard mobile voice and texting services. PLAN enables government officials to target emergency alerts to specific geographic areas through cell towers, which push the information to dedicated receivers in PLAN-enabled mobile devices.
PLAN complements the existing Emergency Alert System (EAS) which is provided by broadcasters and other media service providers and overseen by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Weather Service at the federal level. Minerva Minerva is an open-source program for viewing geospatial data that works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It unifies standard GIS capabilities with high-performance, 3D visualization. Minerva’s primary strength is the ability to display raster and vector data together from multiple sources at interactive speeds. It can easily display large terrain and image repositories because it automatically draws the appropriate level of detail. Minerva was born out of a need for multi-screen, view-frustum corrected, planet-wide management and inquiry of geospatially referenced data of all kinds. This includes satellite images, terrain, temporal vector data, temporal volumetric data, and standard GIS „shape“ data, loaded either from disk, spatial databases, or internet protocols. Further, a lot of non-traditional geospatial data is underground, such as groundwater data and urban infrastructure. Minerva is a platform flexible enough to display data below the surface. The desktop application is made by wrapping the core functionality with a Qt based application framework called Helios. For multi-screen display, an executable based on VR-Juggler exposes the functionality of Minerva. Xively (former Pachube) Xively/ Pachube is a web service that enables you to connect, tag and share real time sensor data from objects, devices, buildings and environments around the world. The key aim is to facilitate interaction between remote environments, both physical and virtual. Apart from enabling direct connections between any two environments, it can also be used to facilitate many-to-many connections: just like a physical „patch bay“ (or telephone switchboard) Pachube enables any participating project to „plug-in“ to any other participating project in real time so that, for example, buildings, interactive installations or blogs can „talk“ and „respond“ to each other. Standby Task Force The SBTF, which was launched at the 2010 International Conference on Crisis Mapping (ICCM 2010), currently comprises some over 1,000 skilled volunteers with dedicated experience in online Crisis Mapping. Existing SBTF volunteers are from 70+ different countries and have been involved in crisis mapping projects for Haiti, Chile, Pakistan, Colombia, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Philippines etc. Crisis Mapping is composed of four key components: information collection, visualization, analysis and response. This explains why the SBTF takes a modular approach comprising the following Teams, which can be activated in combination or individually: (1) Technology Team – Responsible for all technical tasks related to Crisis Mapping such as launching crisis mapping platforms and integrating existing SMS and RSS feeds. (2) Media Monitoring Team – Monitors online media and social media for relevant reports. (3) SMS Team – Monitors incoming SMSes and processes them for the map. (4) Geo-Location Team – Finds GPS coordinates for locations in Media and SMS reports. (5) Report Team – Create reports inside the Ushahidi platform (if available) and does quality control on the data inputted by the volunteers. (6) Verification Team – Triangulates reports from the Media Monitoring and SMS Teams. (7) Analysis Team – Provides summary reports based on the incoming data. (8) Translation Team – Translates Media and SMS reports from/to English. (9) Satellite Imagery Team – Provides satellite imagery analysis using micro-tasking. (10) Humanitarian Team – Comprises existing professional humanitarians who liaise between the Task Force and humanitarian organizations. Save-and-Well Disasters often make it difficult to stay in touch with loved ones. The American Red Cross Safe and Well website is a central location for people in disaster areas in the United States to register their current status, and for their loved ones to access that information. It helps provide displaced families with relief and comfort during a stressful time. The Safe and Well website is easy to use: (a) If you are currently being affected by a disaster somewhere in the U.S., click List Myself as Safe and Well, enter your pre-disaster address and phone number, and select any of the standard message options. (b) If you are concerned about a loved one in the U.S., click Search Registrants and enter the person’s name and pre-disaster phone number OR address. PROJECT EPIC, which launched in September 2009, is supported by a $2.8M grant from the US National Science Foundation.
